When Mirza Qadiani came to Lahore on May 26, 1908, the Muslims of Lahore invited Pir Syed Jamaat Ali Shah (may Allah have mercy on him) to confront and stop Mirza Qadiani from spreading his blasphemous claims. Pir Sahib challenged Mirza at Mochi Gate and other places and announced a reward of 5,000 rupees if Mirza would come and hold a debate and win the prize.
In response, Mirza Qadiani said that Pir Sahib had come to chase him away. “Let him try his utmost, but I am not one to flee. Even if he stays for 12 years, I will not move an inch,” Mirza claimed.
To this, Pir Jamaat Ali Shah (may Allah have mercy on him) declared at a public gathering on May 22, 1908:
“Forget 12 years—Mirza Qadiani will soon leave not just Lahore, but this world, humiliated and disgraced.”
Pir Sahib challenged Mirza Qadiani in every way and invited him to come forward and prove his claim of prophethood. He offered a debate or mubahila (prayer duel) and told him to collect the 5,000 rupees. Pir Sahib even expressed willingness to go to Mirza if he could not come. But Mirza did not have the courage to accept any challenge.
Finally, on Monday night, May 25, 1908, Pir Sahib addressed a roaring sea of thousands of Muslims from Lahore and outside the city and said,
“We have waited long for Mirza Qadiani. He did not appear. Making prophecies is not my habit, but I want to state clearly that the divine judgment for Mirza has been passed. By God’s grace, he will not confront me, because my Prophet ï·º is true, and I am the sincere servant of that true Prophet ï·º. You will see that within the next 24 hours, Allah Almighty, for the sake of His beloved Prophet ï·º, will grant us relief from this false claimant to prophethood.”
When Pir Sahib made this prophecy, thousands of Muslims raised their voices in unison and said, “Ameen.” This prophecy was made at 10:00 PM, and on May 26 at exactly 10:10 AM, Mirza Qadiani passed away.
As Maulana Rumi said:
“His words were the words of Allah… though they came from the throat of Abdullah.”
Mirza Qadiani once said:
“Whoever dies of cholera dies a disgraceful death.”
Heaven spat back at his face. The same night when Hazrat Amir-e-Millat (may his secret be sanctified) made his prophecy, shortly afterward Mirza Qadiani was struck with cholera. By midnight, the disease had intensified. Six hours before his death, he lost the ability to speak. The doctor gave such medicine that reversed the natural flow of waste in the body, causing filth to exit from the mouth. In this miserable state, Mirza died in the toilet on May 26, 1908 at 10:10 AM.
Pir Syed Jamaat Ali Shah (may Allah have mercy on him) issued a five-point statement regarding Mirza Qadiani’s claim to prophethood:
-
A true prophet is never the student of a teacher. He possesses divine knowledge and learns through the Holy Spirit. His education and learning come directly from the Almighty. (A false claimant is the opposite.)
-
Every true prophet, after the age of forty, immediately declares his prophethood openly before the people. He does not receive it gradually—first claiming to be a muhaddith, then a mujaddid, and only later a prophet.
-
From Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) to the Prophet of the Universe ï·º, all prophets had singular names. No true prophet ever had a compound name.
-
A true prophet does not leave behind inheritance. (Whereas Mirza Qadiani left behind inheritance and deprived some of his children from it.)
-
A true prophet is buried where he dies, but the false claimant Mirza Qadiani died a disgraceful death in the toilet of the Ahmadiyya Building on Brandreth Road, Lahore, and was buried in Qadian (India).
This five-point declaration and challenge remains a torment for the Qadiani community to this day. No Qadiani has been able to respond to it even now.
